Our mission

To equip students with language skills and literary insight to motivate them to lead and live a fully life and fully human life in the social ambience.

The Department of English has been established in 1991 and since then it is the largest department in the college. The Department of English exercises various curricular and co-curricular activities to uplift and to prepare the students to lead the successful and happy life in the globalized world. As we see that the twenty-first is mounted on the scientific advancement and is rapidly changing too. To meet the need of this generation, we equip students with soft-skills, communication skills and life skills which are the key parameters for the success.  The classroom attendance of the students of our department is almost 100%. We deal with compulsory, general, and special level studies. To enhance the skills and knowledge of our students, we conduct the following activities.

A Certificate Course in Communication Skills

The Department of English conducts forty teaching hours ‘A Certificate Course in Communication Skills’ wherein Dr. Dhanaji Nagane, (HOD), and Dr. Balaji Natkare conduct lectures. The renowned in the respective are also invited as guest lectures.  Intake capacity of this course is forty from BA and B.Com faculties.  

Classroom Activities

  1. We conduct class-wise seminars.
  2. We conduct tutorials on the syllabi.
  3. We promot group discussions during special hours.
  4. We conduct oral examination.
  5. We arrange screening of the movies based on prescribed texts and on the classical English Literature.   
  6. We encourage students to handle computer and internet facilities to give them more access with English Language and Literature in order to update with current events.

Faculty Profile

  1. Dr. Dhanaji Nagane and Dr. Balaji Natkare have pursued the doctoral research and are the recognized Research Guides of Savitribai Phule Pune University.
  2. The faculty members participate and present papers in state, national and international level seminars and conferences organized by various institutions and colleges. 
  3. Dr. Dhanaji Nagane and Dr. Balaji Natkare have completed two Research Projects each granted by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune.
  4. Both the faculties have published more than 50 research papers in peer reviewed and refereed international journals.
